Ministries

BIBLE STUDY

Whether in preaching services, bible studies, or children's classes, God's Holy Word is the foundation of all teaching at First Baptist Church.

Children's Church

During the Sunday School service, our children's ministry offers those from preschool to teenagers the opportunity to discuss topics relevant to the unique challenges of growing up.

Addiction Support

There is hardly a struggle so severe in our communities today. Each Thursday at 7:30 PM groups are held to support those battling addiction of all types. Those in need can contact the church.

Youth Groups

Each Wednesday evening, age specific age groups tackle the issues young people face from a Bible centered perspective.

Missions

We believe in and support, financially and in prayer, the work of missionaries who God has sent throughout the world.

Music

Music ministry is a tradition at First Baptist Church. The church choir performs Christmas and Easter cantatas along with their part in regular services and community worship events.

About Us

First Baptist Church of Whitesville is an independent Baptist Church serving the coalfield communities of Southern West Virginia. Since our founding in 1919, countless people have come to faith in our Lord Jesus and been taught to grow in his mercy and grace. The world may look quite different today than it did but our commitment to show God's love to our corner of the world and beyond has not. It is our goal to continue to spread the gospel of Christ at home and abroad.

All that we do at First Baptist Church of Whitesville is based on God's teaching of Himself in His Holy Bible. Weekly programs and services are offered for all ages on Sundays and Wednesdays. We seek to reach out through community outreach ministries including our food bank, needs based offerings, local school involvement programs, among others. We invite you to visit with us for one of our weekly services as we seek God's leadership in service to His people in our community.
